Biography

Harold J. Landreneau was born and raised in the Historic Houston Heights in Houston, Texas. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Houston and his J.D. Law Degree from South Texas College of Law. Harold also participated in the mock trial and advocacy programs at South Texas which has a rich tradition of excellence in trial advocacy.

As an associate with Sullo & Sullo, Harold's primary area of practice is Criminal Defense. He regularly defends clients accused of Misdemeanors in County, Justice and Municipal Courts but he has also represented clients accused of Felonies in District Court as well. In addition Harold defends client’s driver’s licenses in DPS Driver’s License Suspension Hearings, Administrative License Revocation Hearings and fights for clients seeking Occupational Licenses in County Civil Court.

Harold is a tireless and tenacious advocate for his clients and never takes the easy way out. Seeking Justice can be hard work and may take time. It may mean going to trial when the client chooses that option, or crafting a plea negotiation acceptable to both the client and the State as well as the Judge; Harold is ready to do it all.

Harold has tried over 350 criminal misdemeanor jury cases to a verdict but he has picked far more juries than that. Harold enjoys the personal interaction during jury selection or voire dire, with the dedicated citizens who volunteer their time to serve on juries for their fellow Texans.

Harold has also worked with Criminal bonding issues for more than 21 years and he was twice elected by his fellow Defense Attorneys of Harris County to represent their interests on the Harris County Bail Bond Board. Harold was elected in 2011 and then again in 2012. Harold worked with representatives from every part of County Government and the Harris County Bonding Community to help ensure State Law and local rules were followed by all bonding companies, bondsmen and attorney bondsmen.

While on the Board, Harold also voted to approve or deny renewal and/or issuance of bail bond licenses, heard complaints from the general public about bonding matters, and voted when necessary to suspend or revoke bonding licenses of those violating the rules. Harold also served on the Local Rules Committee, helping to formulate and update the local rules of the Board. Harold is still involved in the Bonding Community and regularly attends Board meetings to help with positive changes for the Harris County Bonding Community.

Harold is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, an Honorary Society of Lawyers whose members are among the best trained attorneys in the state. He is also an Eagle Scout and a trained mediator. Harold served as a volunteer Boy Scout Leader for many years and now volunteers as a Girl Scout Parent.

Prior to beginning his law practice Harold served as the Chief Clerk of one of the biggest Justice of the Peace Courts in Harris County (and the State of Texas). In his 14-year career there he eventually supervised more than 25 clerks, submitted and maintained a budget of $1.5 mil and oversaw the adjudication of 60,000+ Civil and Criminal cases and collection of more than $3.4 mil in County funds annually.

Harold comes from a working-class family and he is no stranger to hard work. He is the first in his family to go to college, first to obtain a graduate degree and the first to become an Attorney. Both his father and grandfather were Union Plumbers, and both members of Plumbers Union Local No: 68 here in Houston. Harold was also a Union Member of AFSCME for 8 years when he worked for Harris County.
