Greg Sullo is a founding and managing partner of Sullo & Sullo, LLP, which he co-founded and manages with his brother, Andrew Sullo. He has practiced law in Texas since 1998 and, for more than 25 years, has helped lead the firm’s evolution into a structured, technology-driven legal organization serving individuals and families across Texas and beyond. He earned his B.S. in Finance from Trinity University and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law Houston. His financial training informs a disciplined, business-focused approach to legal strategy and firm leadership.

Personal: Greg grew up in Colorado, where he was fortunate to ski after school and on weekends — an experience that instilled discipline and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. He attended Trinity University in San Antonio, where he earned his degree in finance and played collegiate baseball before going on to South Texas College of Law Houston. He has been married since 1999 and has three children — one son and two daughters. For many years, he coached his children’s baseball and softball teams, an experience that continues to shape his approach to leadership and teamwork. Outside the office, he enjoys skiing and other outdoor activities with his family.

Biography: Rey was born and raised in Alief-Houston, Texas. Rey has been a remarkable part of our firm for over 15 years. He began his career at Sullo & Sullo as a legal assistant, and then as a paralegal. While working for our firm, Rey continued attending college part-time and obtained his undergraduate degree.

After graduating Cum Laude from the University of Houston, Rey decided to answer to his true calling and gained acceptance to South Texas College of Law, where he attended full-time while continuing to work at Sullo & Sullo. He graduated law school as a certified mediator, and he achieved a high-performance grade while working for the Randall O. Sorrells Legal Clinics where he mainly helped people with their Criminal Expunctions and Non-Disclosures.
Rey now focuses on his practice of criminal defense. He is a strong believer in the presumption of innocence and the burden of proof belonging to the accuser.

Joseph P. Johnson, Associate
Biography: Joseph P. Johnson was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas. He attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas and received a Bachelor of Arts with a major in History and a minor in English. After graduation, Joseph joined the AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America program, a federal program established to emulate the Peace Corps.

After the expiry of his term of service with the AmeriCorps, Joseph attended Oklahoma City University School of Law in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Joseph was a merit scholar, faculty research assistant, and made the dean’s list following his first year at OCU Law. After being admitted to the state bar, Joseph began his legal career as a felony and misdemeanor prosecutor. During his time as a prosecutor, Joseph handled hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases from intake to grand jury presentation to plea bargain, bench trial, or jury trial. Joseph also handled juvenile, asset forfeiture, and appellate cases during his time as a prosecutor. Joseph joined Sullo & Sullo to work in the Criminal Defense Department in November 2021.
Katherine Marshall, Associate
Biography: Originally from San Antonio, Katherine attended and graduated from Alamo Heights High School, where she excelled academically and on the track. She went on to attend Brown University, where she concentrated in public policy while earning All-Ivy honors as a member of the school-record setting 4×800 meter relay team. After Brown, Katherine attended the University of Houston Law Center, where she worked in the school’s immigration and civil clinics, winning an asylum case on behalf of her client.

She also clerked for Harry Gee, Jr., and Associates, an immigration firm, where she drafted employment and family-based petitions, and later for The John M. O’Quinn Firm, where she engaged in all aspects of civil litigation and international arbitration. After graduation, Katherine filed tens of dozens of (approved) I-601 waiver applications with Scott & Associates, an immigration boutique, before coming to work for Sullo & Sullo. Katherine now lives in the heart of Houston with her husband, her two young children, her golden retriever, and her two cats. Kathryn Mecredy, Associate
Biography: Kathryn Mecredy manages a docket primarily focused on Class C Misdemeanor offenses, including traffic tickets, at Sullo & Sullo. Kathryn began her legal career as a staff attorney at Lone Star Legal Aid, where she managed a comprehensive family law docket across Harris, Montgomery, and Fort Bend Counties. Following her tenure at Legal Aid, she transitioned to practicing civil litigation. In 2012, Kathryn joined the Sullo & Sullo team, where she developed a passion for defending Class C Misdemeanor cases, always working toward the goals and needs of each client she represents.
Since joining Sullo, Kathryn has actively engaged within the community through various leadership and service roles. In 2014, she was elected by the Harris County Bar to serve as the Defense Attorney Representative on the Harris County Bail Bond Board. The following year, she joined the Board of Directors of the Harris County Constable Precinct One Foundation, where she contributes to local outreach initiatives and supports programs benefiting the Precinct One community. In 2017, Kathryn further demonstrated her commitment to the legal profession by serving as President of the Harris County Municipal Justice Bar Association.
In 2024, Kathryn expanded her legal practice by becoming the Presiding Judge of the Patton Village Municipal Court. Biography: Mark Robertson is a native Houstonian and has always called Houston home. Following graduation from Jersey Village High School, Mark received his Bachelor’s degree in theology with departmental honors from Loyola University and was the recipient of several academic scholarships.

He went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law on a full academic scholarship. Mark spent time in the practice of debt defense as well as child abuse survivor advocacy as an Attorney Ad Litem in Galveston County. A criminal offense is a type of crime we distinguish from a civil “wrong.” A criminal offense is viewed by society as not only an offense against a victim but against society as a whole. A civil wrong involves a misbehavior toward a specific victim but is not considered an affront to the public or to morality in general. As an example, robbery is considered a criminal offense because a victim has been (forcefully) deprived of his or her property, but also because society as a whole is not tolerant of a violent personal theft.
When considering a white-collar crime, such as embezzlement, the owner of the business is harmed when an employee embezzles money, but in many cases, so is the public. In contrast, a civil wrong generally does not breach society’s moral sensibilities in the same way a criminal offense does. Because of this, we leave it to “society” (as in a public prosecutor such as a district attorney) to charge and prosecute criminal offenders, bringing justice to the victim, and, by extension, society.
Rather than the monetary compensation awarded a “victim” in a civil case, criminal defendants are incarcerated and/or fined, as a punishment. You may have been charged with a Texas felony—a more serious criminal offense—or a Texas misdemeanor, which is less serious, but can still have serious consequences. Criminal offenses include such crimes as murder, manslaughter, assault, sexual crimes, drug offenses, theft and burglary, DWI and DUI, juvenile crimes, disorderly conduct, domestic violence and shoplifting (as well as many more criminal offenses)
Whether the crime you are charged with is a felony or misdemeanor will depend on many different things—sometimes a crime which is normally a misdemeanor can be charged as a felony when there are aggravating circumstances or the offense is a second, third or subsequent charge.
