Some Stryker Rejuvenate and ABGII Victims may be Eligible for More Monies Under the Settlement Agreement

September 20, 2017 - If you are a victim of the Stryker Rejuvenate and ABGII recall, you are likely very aware of the Stryker hip settlement which was announced in July 2012. There were more than 20,000 Stryker ABGII and Rejuvenate devices sold prior to the recall, and thousands of recipients of the recalled devices filed lawsuits. This settlement covered those who had undergone a Stryker hip revision surgery by November 3, 2014. If you were one of those who received revision surgery, you could be eligible for Stryker hip settlement enhancements in addition to the Stryker hip settlement base award of $300,000.  Stryker hip monetary compensation could be increased by as much as $500,000, depending on factors specific to your case. Some of the enhancements you may be eligible for include the following: 

• Infections related to revision surgery could increase the Stryker hip settlement base award by as much as $30,000 to $75,000. Infections which were serious enough to confine the patient to a nursing facility after revision surgery could be eligible for as much as $15,000-$60,000 in Stryker hip settlement enhancements.
• Foot drop experienced by patients following Stryker hip revision surgery or Stryker hip re-revision surgery could qualify for Stryker hip settlement enhancements as much as $20,000 to $288,000, depending on the age of the patient and how severe the foot drop is.

• Following Stryker hip revision surgery, patients who were required to have their replacement implant removed due to infection or loosening could qualify for up to $175,000 in Stryker hip settlement enhancements.
• A stroke suffered while the patient is hospitalized for the revision surgery could qualify the patient for between $85,000 and $516,000 in Stryker hip settlement enhancements, depending on the age of the patient and how severe the stroke was.
• When a patient experiences pulmonary embolism while hospitalized for Stryker hip revision surgery, he or she could qualify for $20,000-$35,000 in Stryker hip settlement enhancements.
• A death during hospitalization for any surgery related to a Stryker hip device failure could add $100,000 to $600,000 in enhancements to the Stryker hip base award, depending on the age of the patient and the number of dependents.
• Patients who have a heart attack while they are in the hospital for Stryker revision surgery could qualify for as much as $66,000-$360,000 in Stryker hip settlement enhancements.

You may also qualify for additional enhancements for costs associated with your surgical procedure and hospital stay and even the medications you received. Less common conditions which can increase the amount of your Stryker hip settlement amount includes Polycythemia Vera, which can be associated with heavy metal poisoning from cobalt, infiltration to the lymphocytes, and perhaps even some types of cancer.
