Update on South Dakota Stryker Hip Litigation

Update on South Dakota Stryker Hip Litigation

Deciding to File a South Dakota Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII Hip Lawsuit

Over 20,000 Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip implants were sold prior to the Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip recalls in July, 2012. The recall was preceded by an Urgent Field Safety Notification sent out to hospitals and surgeons in April, 2012. The Notification warned that the Rejuvenate and ABGII hip devices had a higher-than-normal rate of failure, and were subject to Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip fretting and corrosion. After the recall it was discovered that Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip cross ionization was also a problem between the titanium stem and the cobalt and chromium neck. Further, Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip trunnions on either end of the neck component were found to trap body fluid, leading to more corrosion. Many recipients of the Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip implant have developed Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip metallosis with symptoms such as inflammation of the hip joint, pain in the groin, thigh and hip areas, deterioration of bone and tissue, total failure of the implant and the necessity for Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip revision surgery.

Other patients develop Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip blood toxicity when the cobalt and chromium ions travel to the bloodstream. Metal toxicity can cause a number of extremely serious health issues including: diminishment of vision and hearing, gastrointestinal, renal, thyroid, neurological and cardiovascular disorders, irritability, dizziness, memory loss, skin rashes, depression, anxiety, reproductive disorders, the development of pseudotumors and changes in DNA. If you have suffered injury from a Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip implant, it may be time to make a decision about filing a South Dakota Stryker Rejuvenate/ABGII hip lawsuit. Over 2,300 lawsuits have been filed to date, with the majority of those being centralized in New Jersey and Minnesota. Other Stryker lawsuits are undergoing mediation, and seventeen cases have settled through mediation thus far.
