Legal Help for Atlanta, Georgia Residents after the Big Game: Do You Need a Houston DWI/Criminal Defense Lawyer?

February 01, 2017 - On Sunday, February 5th at 5:30 p.m., Houston, Texas will host Super Bowl 51. This marks the third time Houston has hosted the Super Bowl, first in 1974, and again in 2004. This year the Atlanta Falcons will square off against the New England Patriots, bringing many Atlanta Falcon fans to Houston. In addition to the actual Super Bowl, Houston is hosting a wide variety of Super Bowl events, including:

  • ZZ Top in Concert on Saturday, February 4th at 9:00 p.m;
  • February 2-4, the Texans House will transform The Grove at Discovery Grove into a hospitality venue for Super Bowl 51 fans and guests, with DJs, live bands, food, and former and current NFL football players;
  • The NFL Experience from January 28th-February 5th at the George R. Brown Convention Center, offering fans a wide variety of Super Bowl 51 festivities;
  • Club Nomadic, a 3-story nightclub entertainment Center will host Sam Hunt on February 2nd, Bruno Mars on February 3rd, and Taylor Swift on February 4th, and
  • The Big Texas Party on Thursday, February 2nd at Silver Street Studio.

There are many, many more Super Bowl 51 festivities across the city of Houston and in the surrounding areas of Sugarland, Pasadena, Pearland and Stafford. While city officials want all those who are attending these festivities—whether from Atlanta, Georgia; Boston, Massachusetts; Houston, or elsewhere—to have a great time, now is a good time to remember that Houston’s police officers will be out in full force, watching for traffic violations and for impaired drivers. The BAC limit in Houston is the same as many other states—0.08 percent, and receiving a DWI charge or other criminal matter in Houston is the last thing you want to deal with during Super Bowl 51.

Dealing with a Houston DWI Charge or another Criminal Offense

Most adults are fully aware they should not drink and drive, however when everyone is having a good time, it can be easy to think you are okay to drive when, in fact, you are not. If you are in Houston for Super Bowl 51 festivities, and find yourself with a traffic ticket, criminal charges, or worse, a DWI, it can be frustrating to determine the best way to handle such an occurrence. After all, unless you live and work in Houston, you may be headed back to Atlanta, Georgia. Hiring a well-qualified Houston DWI lawyer and/or Houston Criminal Defense lawyer could be very beneficial for Atlanta Falcons fans.

The Serious, Long-Term Consequences of a Houston DWI

Houston DWI charges—even if it is your first time to be charged with a DWI—can result in very serious, long-term consequences. You could end up having your driver’s license suspended, see your insurance premiums increase to a point they are unaffordable, and face steep fines and fees and even possible incarceration. Even a relatively simple Houston traffic ticket can result in a surprising level of serious consequences.

How a Houston DWI Lawyer Can Help

A knowledgeable Houston DWI lawyer has the specialized training necessary to secure the best possible outcome in your case and can challenge the results of blood, breath and field sobriety tests when warranted, fighting aggressively for your freedom and your future. We hope Atlanta Falcons fans will enjoy all that Houston has to offer during Super Bowl 51, but if you should find yourself facing a criminal offense or a DWI charge, don’t wait—call an experienced Houston DWI lawyer immediately.
