After Iran launched its ballistic missile attack on U.S. Troops stationed in Iraq, none of the missiles were intercepted, and U.S. helicopters and other military equipment were severely damaged. Despite the fact that former president Donald Trump tweeted “all is well,” after the attack, there were significant human casualties. In fact, within months of the missile attack, more than 109 U.S. troops had been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury (among other injuries).
The Pentagon injury report stated that a minimum of 5 percent of the estimated 2,000 troops at Al Asad suffered concussive effects from the missile attack. At least 48 of those troops were sent to medical facilities in Landstuhl, Germany for medical assessment and treatment. Once those assessments were complete, it was clear there were many more traumatic brain injuries than previously thought.
